Teresa Fluegel is an Executive Vice President for Chicago Deferred Exchange Company. She holds the Certified Exchange Specialist® designation since 2004 and brings more than 25 years of professional experience and expertise to the field. Teresa works with attorneys, accountants, and commercial real estate professionals along with investor clients to defer federal capital gains tax, state income tax, depreciation tax and net investment income tax using Internal Revenue Code Section 1031. Teresa is a seasoned expert in navigating exchanges and has been involved in thousands of IRC Section 1031 exchange transactions including forward-delayed, reverse parking and built-to-suit exchanges nationally with a primary focus in California.

Teresa is a frequent instructor of accredited 1031 courses to national law firms and has spoken to thousands of real estate investors, leading national trade associations including CREW, CCIM, SIOR, Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA), and ProVisors. She has participated in several panel discussions including the California Real Property Retreat and at UC Berkeley. Teresa served many years on the board of directors for the Northern California Chapter of CCIM and CREW East Bay where she served as chapter president in 2017. In addition, she is an active mentor for women in commercial real estate.
